About The Program

Wounded Healer Project’s co-founder and Executive Director, Timothy Spalla, is a leading voice in the veteran mental health and larger veteran community. Fueled by his personal healing journey, he has quickly risen to the top of moral injury researchers supported by his ongoing doctoral education at the University of Denver.

Tailored for audiences ranging from mental health professionals and educators to community leaders, and policymakers, Tim’s moral injury presentations aim to raise awareness, foster understanding, and inspire supportive action around the moral challenges faced by veterans in and after military service.

SPEAKING TOPICS:
Moral injury—caused by events that conflict with one’s deeply held values and beliefs—can profoundly impact a veteran’s mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Tim’s presentation draws on a combination of clinical expertise and lived experience to discuss the psychological, emotional, and spiritual effects of moral injury. Topics include understanding moral injury, recognizing signs and symptoms, providing supportive care, and developing community resources to address veterans’ needs.
