About The Program
The Veteran Pod Psychoeducation Group is designed to support veterans currently housed in a veterans-only pod within a correctional facility. This group provides a safe and structured environment for veterans to explore mental health topics, build coping skills, and develop resilience in the face of challenging circumstances. Drawing on shared military experiences and fostering a sense of camaraderie, this program addresses the unique mental health needs of veterans, including topics such as trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, and substance use.
Participants will engage in facilitated discussions and interactive activities led by veteran mental health professionals with shared lived experience of military culture and the challenges veterans may face. Each session introduces practical tools and strategies, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, and effective communication skills, tailored to the experiences of veterans. By fostering a sense of community and providing valuable psychoeducation, The Veteran Pod Psychoeducation Group aims to empower participants to manage stress, improve mental wellness, and develop skills that can support their reentry and long-term success.

How This Works
STEP 01
We begin by sitting in at your docket to familiarize ourselves with your participants and court team.
STEP 02
If your district is ready for us to begin providing on site mental health care through our VTC-SRG Group, we provide a template for an MOU that has to be submitted to the State that allows us to use available space at the courthouse free of charge.
STEP 03
While we wait for the MOU to be approved, we continue to sit in at your court and the Probation office in your district can begin the process to participate in our Master Contract (see directions in the next section) that allocates some of your district’s current funding to pay for services with WHP.
STEP 04
Once the MOU has been signed, we begin providing services immediately on site.
STEP 05
As we begin providing services, we have found it to be even more impactful to have our Clinical Director sit in on staffing meetings for the VTC to offer an immediate mental health perspective and give general participation updates of the veterans utilizing our services. This is optional but certain districts do report that this has been a valuable resource to the court team.
